Step closer to the front of the treadmill to speed up, and move toward the back to slow down. If you prefer to control things personally, swap to manual mode instead. You'll be able to step or jog at your own speed, whether you're watching TV in the living room, cooling off after a long strength-focused workout or even while working at a stand-up desk.
