Bowers & Wilkins speaker box is designed to provide sound insulation to adjoining rooms, while providing the fire safety barrier that is sometimes required by building regulations to prevent fire from spreading from the niche in the wall to the room.
When used in solid construction, the box will define an appropriate working volume for the speaker, which may need to extend beyond the boundaries of the wall frame.
